Hi Everyone!
As you know, I am one of more than 400,000 fitness professionals who provide exercise instruction and services in the USA. Most fitness studios, gyms, community centers and ballrooms have physically closed to slow the spread of the new coronavirus causing a pandemic in the world today. Fun exercise and uplifting music are needed more than ever as most of the world is on lockdown. Fortunately, I am a Zumba® instructor, and Zumba® instructors are now permitted to teach online classes for the first time!
You can easily access classes through my instructor page at MarieKube.Zumba.com! I am offering a free class daily. The class schedule can change, so please check MarieKube.Zumba.com for current class offerings. On Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays you can start class anytime between 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm CDT (GMT -5). On Tuesdays and Thursdays, you can start anytime between 6:00 am – 11:00 am CDT (GMT -5), and on Saturdays you can start anytime between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm CDT (GMT -5). After starting the class, you have up to 5 hours to complete the 1 hour-long class. You should be able to access the class using your phone or computer. The Google Chrome browser seems to work the best. If it freezes, try going back a little.
When I first started offering online classes about two months ago, I could not see who participated in the class, only how many participants there were. Now I can see your names. I love your comments! If you leave a comment, please know that I have no way to respond (unless you leave me your contact information). You can always contact me here or through my Zumba® instructor page (MarieKube.Zumba.com) or my Marie Kube Facebook page.
The Zumba® program is a dance fitness program based on Latin and international music and dance movements. There is a focus of bringing rhythms together, creating a fusion of music. Previous dance experience is not necessary. A Zumba® class creates a party-like atmosphere. My Zumba® classes are medium intensity and low impact for adults of all genders. Rhythms we dance to include Merengue, Salsa, Cumbia, Reggaeton, Bachata and more. My authentic playlist is hot! I use only songs approved by Zumba® for use in online classes. I am always working on more classes with more songs and am planning to film every week. I am currently working on my ninth video.
Zumba® suave classes are intended to give you a great workout that is fun and friendly to the joints and the whole body so you will feel good afterwards and be motivated to continue exercising regularly.
Why take a Zumba® class? To improve cardiorespiratory (aerobic) capacity, strength, endurance, flexibility, and balance. Benefits can include improved posture, coordination (stability and mobility), motor control and performance/agility as well as increased caloric expenditure. Psychological benefits include enhanced self-esteem, general well-being and quality of life, and reduced depression, stress, and anxiety.
You will need a safe space in which to dance that is free of obstacles you might trip on or run into, such as coffee tables or pets. If you have carpet, you may like to wear Dancesocks® (www.thedancesocks.com) over your shoes for easier turning. I will be facing you, so follow me like a mirror image. I will be giving you cues, mostly non-verbal cues like hand signals, to indicate what moves to do and in which direction.
Participants are responsible for themselves. Participants should be adults or supervised by a parent or caregiver. Participate at your own pace and risk. Listen to your body and to your health care practitioner. Modify or skip any moves that aren’t right for you. Feel free to take breaks as needed; just try to keep moving so your heart rate and blood pressure do not fall too quickly. Drink water to stay hydrated. Keep your knees behind your toes (especially during squats and lunges), and keep your feet turned out slightly (not turned in).
Participants should wear comfortable, activewear clothing that is not restrictive and allows cooling for appropriate thermoregulation of the body. Zumba Fitness recommends that you wear cross training or aerobic style shoes that provide cushion and medial lateral support needed for side-to-side movements. Such shoes also have low traction rubber for easy sliding and turning. Please be careful with running shoes because they usually have a heavy tread on the bottom and are designed for forward movement. Please make sure your shoes are clean and dry with a non-marking rubber sole.
You can buy shoes and clothing online at www.zumba.com. Input my code “gypsy” at check-out to get a 10% discount!
If you have any questions, please contact me here or through my Zumba® instructor page (MarieKube.Zumba.com) or my Marie Kube Facebook page.
Hopefully, you will see continued improvement in my dancing now that I, as a member of ZIN® (Zumba® Instructor Network), am able to take livestream classes with the creator of Zumba® himself, Alberto “Beto” Pérez!
Zumba® dance fitness has certainly improved my fitness and my life, so I would love to share it with you. Special thanks to those who have taken classes already!
All are welcome! Let’s dance!
Lots of Love,
Marie
